One of our readers contacted us for help, his daughter was heavily addicted to Instagram and he could see her marks declining over the past few months. Blatantly Blaming the Instagram for her decline in marks, he wanted to know how to revoke her access to her Instagram account. Though unwilling to do, we know our responsibility in helping our readers, we guided him step-by-step through the process of account deletion. Found below is a tutorial on the same.
Not just the above reason, if you’re being troubled by someone on Instagram and blocking their account still didn’t help, then you might want to temporarily deactivate your account for a while. There are instances where you want to take down all the pictures and your previous comments and totally start afresh, in such a case deleting the account might be for you.
Before choosing if you want to either disable or delete your Instagram account, you should first know the difference between them, so that you can differentiate and choose what suits you best.
Disabling you Instagram Account:
When you disable your Instagram account, your profile, the pictures, comments and even the likes are all hidden. However, you can always log back into your account and they are all retrieved.
To temporarily disable your Instagram account first log into your account on a mobile browser or computer as you can’t disable your account right from the Instagram app. Then tap or click the user icon in the upper right corner and select the edit profile option. Now, scroll down to find the Temporarily disable my account option which should be on the bottom right of the page and click it. You will now be presented with a drop-down menu where you should choose the reason why you are disabling your account and then go ahead to re-enter your password when you are prompted. Finally, tap on the “Temporarily Disable Account” to temporarily disable your Instagram account.
Deleting your Instagram account permanently:
If you’ve already tried disabling your account but you still find yourself coming back to it just because you can, and you decide to go one notch up and finally delete your account forever then this might be the best option for you.
Do keep in mind that, once you delete your account, you won’t be able to signup again with the same username and it is also not possible to reactivate your account.
If you’ve finally considered deleting your account, be careful and it’s recommended to first try temporarily disabling the account and check if it’s what you want.
Once you chose to take the big step and finally permanently delete your Instagram account, log into the account using a mobile browser or a computer and go to the account deletion page that you find here. There will be a drop down menu where you should select the reason for deleting your Instagram account and then re-enter the password when you’re prompted. Now finally, click or tap the Permanently delete my account option to delete your account forever.
